How easy is it to change your life? I wonder is it really just a decision or do you need to do something else? The big hairy decisions ( BHD’s)  can be life altering, they potentially redirect a trajectory of a life. The BHD’s are sometimes out of our hands and dictated perhaps by the decisions of others or events that occur.

On my walk this morning with Kip ( dog of Slowwego ) – I pondered the simple idea of reviewing decisions, the daily ones, the ones that happen without a lot of fore-thought. As  I walked it occurred to me that I need to approach these smaller, seemingly less impactful decisions with mindfulness from the fuel I feed my body, to the clothes I wear, to even say good morning to a stranger – every moment has impact.

Taking the time to review what habits we have formed is  important and this action of review can alter our lives as powerfully as the BHD decisions can. This is not to say this type of reflection is easy, far from it. In fact dissecting  choices, and actions with frank mindfulness  can sometimes be startling and hard when face to face with a less than flattering aspect of ourselves. We though, have control of the picture that emerges, we don’t like that shadow – change it, if we need to add more light it is within our control. The beauty of our lives is in the contrasts.

Everyday we have the choice to reflect and review, to choose our responses and change how we are perceived. I believe that in making that one decision to look at ourselves honestly, we can create a totally different life; one in which we might outwardly experience no change, it is our inward journey that equip us to navigate whatever comes our way.
